Inconel 718

Inconel 718 is a nickel-chromium alloy with high strength and corrosion-resistant properties. It is composed of nickel (58%-63%), chromium (20%-23%), iron (15-17%), niobium, molybdenum, titanium, aluminium and other trace elements. This combination makes Inconel 718 highly resistant to oxidation at extreme temperatures up to 1200°F and also provides excellent stress corrosion cracking resistance in corrosive environments.

Inconel 718 is a nickel-based superalloy widely used in the aerospace industry due to its unique combination of high strength, oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance, and weldability. Its superior mechanical properties make it suitable for components subjected to high temperatures (over 650°F), such as jet engine parts, gas turbine blades and discs, seals and fasteners. Its fatigue strength is also useful in highly cyclic applications like landing gear components. With its extensive heat treatment capabilities for improved stress rupture and creep strength characteristics, Inconel 718 offers reliable performance with better durability under extreme operating conditions.
