Nimonic 80A is a nickel-chromium alloy with good corrosion resistance and high strength. It was developed for use in temperatures up to 1100°C (2012°F). The alloy has an excellent combination of creep and stress rupture properties, making it suitable for gas turbines and nuclear reactors. Its composition includes approximately 72% Nickel, 20% Chromium, 5.5% Iron, 1% Molybdenum, 0.7 Silicon, 0.3 Carbon and 0.15 Manganese trace elements, as well as Aluminum and Titanium impurities, which must be limited to very specific levels due to their effect on corrosion properties.
Nimonic 80A is a nickel-chromium alloy with excellent hot workability and good resistance to corrosion and oxidation. It has high strength at temperatures up to 816°C and maintains its mechanical properties even in corrosive environments. Among the uses of this alloy are applications in jet turbine components, nuclear reactors, chemical plant equipment, heat exchangers, furnace parts, exhaust manifolds and other areas where durability is essential. It also features low thermal expansion and dimensional stability under different temperature ranges, making it suitable for different temperature-controlled applications.
