Stainless Steel 304LN

Stainless steel 304LN is an austenitic chromium-nickel alloy that contains lower carbon, nitrogen, and other alloying elements. It has good corrosion resistance and formability, making it a popular grade of stainless steel for use in components such as cookware, medical instrumentation, and pressure vessels. Its composition includes chromium (18-20%), nickel (8-10.5%), manganese (2%), silicon (1%), molybdenum (.4–1%) , nitrogen (.16-.25%) and iron (balance). Compared to the other grades of stainless steel, this type provides superior weldability due to its low carbon content.

Stainless Steel 304LN is a low-carbon alloy and is often used in kitchenware, plumbing fixtures, and food processing equipment due to its strength, corrosion resistance, and relatively low cost. It also offers excellent weldability properties and good formability, making it an ideal choice for many industries such as medical, construction, chemical processing, and oil & gas. Its chlorine-enhanced version ensures higher toughness at cryogenic temperatures than stainless steels like AISI 316L or 321H. These features make Stainless Steel 304LN one of the most popular materials in manufacturing applications today.
