Stainless Steel 444

Stainless Steel 444 is a ferritic grade of stainless steel known for its good formability and corrosion resistance. Its composition consists of iron (Fe 12-14%), chromium (Cr 16-18%), nickel (Ni 0.5%), manganese (Mn 1.0%), Silicon(Si1.0%) and nitrogen, copper, molybdenum in trace amounts. It has improved resistance to pitting corrosion compared to SS430 or 410 grades, making it suitable for use in food processing applications such as equipment components for vinegar production, brewing tanks, etc.

Stainless Steel 444 (UNS S44400, 1.4521 or X2CrMoTi18-2) is a ferritic stainless steel with excellent corrosion resistance in oxidizing corrosive media such as nitric acid and sulfuric acid. It has great mechanical properties, such as high tensile strength and good formability, making it ideal for applications that require durability and flexibility. The grade also provides exceptional weldability for joining two pieces of metal together. Typical uses of Stainless Steel 444 are found in the chemical processing industry, automotive exhaust systems, boilers, condensers, pressure vessels, pharmaceutical containers and marine applications due to its ability to resist oxidation at elevated temperatures and extreme stress conditions.
