Duplex Steel Plates have two structure i.e. Austenitic and Ferritic. The mechanical properties of Duplex Steel plates is outstanding along with excellent resistance towards corrosion. These properties make DS plates versatile and usable in many applications.
Duplex Steel plates have superior strength, in comparison to that of the single structure of austenitic and ferritic steels. DS steel can resist the damage caused due chloride pitting, owing to the molybdenum, nitrogen and chromium content present in them. Stress-corrosion cracking does not occur in DS Steel Plates. The content of alloyants in less amounts makes the Plates much more cost effective. In comparison to other austenitic steel grades the amount of nickel and molybdenum added to Duplex Steels is less. These plates are alterable in size, due to the increased tensile strength of the alloy. In comparison to that of single structured austenitic steels, the tensile strength is much higher in Duplex steels. Applications like Hot-water tanks, Brewing tanks and processing plants use duplex steel for its high work-ability. The stress corrosion cracking resistance to DS plates also makes it usable in such applications. Duplex Steel plates are popular, as the costing is low, corrosion resistance is high and the strength is also higher.
