A mixture of austenitic and ferritic steels structure is used in producing Duplex steel tubing. Duplex Steel Tubing are known for their outstanding mechanical properties. The corrosion resistance in Duplex Steel tubing is excellent.
Duplex Steel Tubing are superior in strength, when compared to regular austenitic and ferritic steel grades. The ductility and toughness of Duplex steel is better in comparison to that of ferritic steels. The nitrogen, molybdenum and chromium content makes DS tubing immune to chloride pitting and crevice corrosion. Stress-corrosion cracking is also not a problem for DS tubing. When compared to other austenitic grades, nickel and molybdenum is added in less amounts. The lesser content of alloyants makes DS cost effective. Sectional thickness is alterable effectively in DS tubing due to the increased tensile strength. The tensile strength is higher than normal austenitic steels. Many applications like brewing tanks, hot water tanks and processing plants make use of Duplex Steels. These applications are use DS tubing for their stress-corrosion cracking. Low costing, corrosion resistance and higher strength make these duplex steel tubing popular.
