Hastelloy valves are nickel and molybdenum containing super alloys. Tungsten and chromium additions enhance the properties of these valves. In severe environments Hastelloy Valves do not show corrosion or damage.
The addition of molybdenum and nickel in high quantities makes these valves resistant to crevice corrosion, pitting and reducing conditions. Chromium is added to hastelloy valves to prevent oxidation. These valves undergo minimal carbide precipitation during welding. Valves are built in types like solenoid, pneumatic, motor and hydraulic. Valves are commonly used for applications like dishwashers, washing machines and chemical plants. These are generally used as water regulators in household taps. Valves are also commonly used to control the flow of gasses and liquids in industries. Damage from Chemical attacks do not damage these valves. Acids like acetic, formic, ferric and cupric do not cause damage to these valves. Corrosive environments like sea-water and chloride solutions do not harm these valves. Stress-corrosion cracking and pitting does not occur in hastelloy Valves. Applications like reaction vessels, chemical processing, evaporators, pharmaceutical companies and paper & pulp production makes use of these hastelloy valves.
