Copper Nickel 70/30 bolts are composed of 70% copper and 30% nickel. The alloy has excellent corrosion resistance in seawater, cooling waters, and salt brine; non-oxidizing acids such as acetic, citric and formic acid; alkalis such as ammonium hydroxide and sodium hydroxide; and solvents like acetone. Copper Nickel 70/30 bolts are not recommended for use in highly oxidizing environments or temperatures above 600°F (315°C). They have excellent electrical conductivity due to their high copper content, which is ideal for marine applications, including seawater piping systems.
70/30 Copper Nickel Bolts are extremely popular for marine applications due to their excellent resistance to seawater corrosion and high tensile strength. They have strong electrical conductivity, good thermal and acoustic properties, excellent formability, and brazing capability. They can also be recycled without any loss of performance. The other beneficial property is that they are non-magnetic, thus making them ideal for building temporary pipelines in the offshore oil & gas industry along with firefighting equipment, protective shells, etc., because they won’t get affected by the powerful EMF generated underwater or near highly charged cables.
Copper Nickel 70/30 Bolts are commonly used in marine applications such as shipbuilding and offshore oil and gas operations, as well as in industrial and chemical applications that require corrosion resistance.
