The electrode is suitable for welding similar grades of steel. It has a good fabricability, and high resistance to oxidation in temperatures of up to 8000 C. the alloy is highly resistant to pitting, stress cracking corrosion and crevice corrosion. The electrode can withstand oxidizing agents like nitric acid and chloride ions even at high temperatures. The rods require heat treatment to improve the hardness. The alloy contains the high composition of nickel, chromium, and molybdenum that enhance its quality. The filler metal does not allow the formation of carbide precipitates around the welding zone.


Properties of Hastelloy C22 electrode


Mechanical- The alloy has a density of 8.6g/cm3. The tensile strength of the wire is 690MPa while the yield strength is 310MPa. The alloy has a high elongation capacity of up to 45% in 50mm.


Chemical- The electrode is made up of carbon, chromium, nickel, molybdenum, sulfur, phosphorus, silicon, manganese, cobalt, and iron. Mo, Ni, and Cr increase the corrosion resistance of the alloy.
