This electrode is highly resistant to oxidation even in high temperatures. The alloy is also resistant to most corrosive environments. The filler metal has excellent formability and weldability. It allows welding from any position. Chromium and nickel components make the alloy resistant to reduction and oxidation. The electrode has some percentage of aluminum which further enhances this property. The alloy can withstand temperatures close to 10000 C. It has high strength and toughness which is maintained even at high temperatures. The electrode has good slag removability and forms beads which are even to the surface of the base metal.


Properties of Inconel 617 electrodes


Mechanical- The density of the alloy is around 8.36g/cm3. The filler metal has a tensile strength of 750MPa while the yield strength is around 320MPa. The elongation capacity of Inconel 617 electrode is 40% in 50mm.


Chemical- The elements found in this alloy include carbon, chromium, copper, aluminum, iron, sulfur, phosphorus, manganese, silicon, and titanium. The nickel and chromium content are high while aluminum is also present for corrosion resistance and weldability.
