The flanges are moderately resistant to halide ions. They can withstand exposure to high and cryogenic temperatures. The material is hardenable through heat treatment in temperatures around 1000 degrees Celsius. The alloy has excellent strength and toughness which is not affected by exposure to severe temperatures. The flanges are moderately resistant to oxidation due to the formation of a protective oxide film. The grade has excellent fabricability and formability. The most common types are blank, blind, swivel, rotatable, square, orifice, reducing, long weld neck, SORF, WNRF, and RTJ. They are classified into 150#, 300#, 600#, 900#, 1500#, 2500#, PN6, PN10, PN16, PN25, PN40, PN64, and PN100.


Properties of low-temperature carbon steel LF6 flanges

Physical and mechanical- The tensile strength and yield strength are 550 and 300MPa respectively. The elongation capacity of the material is 25%. The melting point of the alloy is 15000 C while the density is 8.2g/cm3.

Chemical- The primary elements in the flanges are carbon, nickel, chromium, silicon, manganese, cobalt, vanadium, sulfur, and phosphorus.
