Carbon Steel WPHY 60 Nipple Pipe Fittings are made of a complex alloy blend consisting of primarily Iron (Fe) with a small percentage (a minimum of 2.0%) of Manganese (Mn), and the addition, usually up to 0.45% Carbon (C). There may also be trace amounts of Silicon (Si), Phosphorus (P), Sulfur (S), Copper (Cu) and Molybdenum (Mo). This precise combination gives the material higher mechanical properties, particularly in good corrosion resistance.

The chemical composition is explicitly designed to maximise performance in applications requiring a service life far longer than bare carbon steel pipe and fittings.
