UNS S31609

Stainless steel UNS S31609 Flanges are composed of alloyed iron and a variety of chromium, manganese, nickel and molybdenum, which gives them exceptional corrosion resistance. Their chemical composition consists of a minimum of 18% chromium, 8-10.5% nickel, 0.08%-2.0% carbon, 2%-3% molybdenum, up to 1.0% manganese and trace amounts (less than 0.75%) of silicon and nitrogen as minor elements making them suitable for various applications in the industrial sector. Not only are they non-magnetic with excellent weldability, but their higher titanium content also gives them superior strength compared to more common grades used worldwide in fabrication projects.

SS UNS S31609 Flanges have a wide range of uses, primarily due to their excellent corrosion resistance and strength. These flanges suit most general applications in acidic or chloride-rich environments, such as off-shore oil wells and chemical processing. As the grades contain molybdenum, they can also resist pitting corrosion from chloride solutions compared to standard austenitic grades like 304 or 316. Additionally, its superior mechanical properties are widely used in structural applications and heat exchangers that encounter higher temperatures. They can even be found in high-temperature steam systems due to their ability to handle temperatures up to 1200˚F.
