Stainless steel 316N is an austenitic stainless steel grade with enhanced nitrogen content. It has excellent corrosion resistance properties, particularly in corrosive chloride environments, and is used for chemical processing, transport, marine applications and medical instruments. It has a high chromium content (17%-18%), molybdenum (2%-3%) and nickel (10% - 14%). Other compositions like carbon, manganese, phosphorus and sulfur also contribute to its strength, making it ideal for many industrial applications.
